Home comforts
Tuesday’s Carabao Cup victory over Cheltenham Town extended our perfect start to the season at Griffin Park to three games. Our current record reads: Played 3, Won 3, Scored 8, Conceded 1. Add to that a five-game unbeaten run to end last season at home and it’s now nearly six months since we tasted defeat on home soil.
Revenge in the air
Nottingham Forest’s most recent visit to West London saw them head home with the three points after a seven-goal thriller last August. That defeat is our only reverse against the East Midlands side in the last eight meetings, stretching back to 2007, so Dean and the boys will be keen to get revenge and wrap up another victory.
Retro Day
Saturday’s game will see us head back to the 70s for a special retro day at Griffin Park. We’d love to see as many Bees supporters wearing their favourite retro shirt to celebrate the decade that saw Abba, M*A*S*H, Monty Python, the Queen’s Silver Jubilee, and the beautiful 1970 World Cup in Mexico which featured an unstoppable Brazil and that Gordon Bank save from Pele.
Bouncing Back
Victory on Saturday would be the perfect way to rebound from last weekend’s defeat on the road at Blackburn Rovers. A win would also ensure that Dean Smith’s side head into the first international break of the campaign inside the top six and within touching distance of the Sky Bet Championship’s top two.
New Stadium progress
The announcement on Tuesday that we would be moving into our new home for the start of the 2020/21 season means there are now, at most, just 44 home league matchdays left at Griffin Park. What better way to start that countdown by packing out GP on Saturday and cheering The Bees onto victory.
