Head coach Keith Andrews has provided an update on Kevin Schade and Jannik Schuster following Brentford’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Schade was replaced by Mamadou Sangaré seven minutes into the second half, with Andrews confirming after the game that the forward sustained a shoulder injury.
“Just a shoulder injury,” said Andrews on Schade. “I’m not totally sure how he is.”
Schuster, meanwhile, was replaced by Aaron Hickey at half-time after carrying an issue into the game.
“Jannik picked up a knock during the week,” Andrews explained. “He didn’t quite look amazing in training yesterday, how he was moving.
“It felt similar today in the warm-up. There was just a little incident with his ankle, so I thought it was the right decision just to take him out of the firing line.”
Hickey replaced Schuster at centre-back for the second half, with Andrews praising the Scotland international’s adaptability.
“I just trust Aaron to do that,” he added. “It’s not a position that’s natural to him, I wouldn’t say, but he is a very natural footballer and has huge game intelligence. He adapted to it really well.”
