Brentford FC Community Sports Trust hosted the first of the five borough football tournaments in recognition of the 125th anniversary of Brentford Football Club last month.
Funded by the Club and delivered by Trust staff, the season long competition is free for primary schools to enter.
Teams consist of boys and girls from School Years Three and Four in the Club’s five core boroughs – Hounslow, Ealing, Richmond, Hillingdon and Spelthorne.
On Wednesday November 19, the first of these competitions took place with Hounslow schools gathering at GOALS Soccer Centre, in Osterley.
The group stages took place in the morning and all of the pupils and teachers demonstrated wonderful team spirit and camaraderie, producing lots of great goals.
In the afternoon the competition entered the knock out stages when the eight qualifying teams tested themselves against one another in the quarter finals.
There was little to choose between the final eight teams, but late in the afternoon the final was contested between Our Lady and St John’s, Brentford and St Mary’s, Isleworth.
Brentford FC First Team players Jake Bidwell, Stuart Dallas, Jota and Marcos Tébar were on hand ahead of the West London derby that week against Fulham.
The two finalists put on a tremendous spectacle with Our Lady and St John’s, pictured above, eventually triumphing.
Both schools will now represent Hounslow Borough at the Grand Final in May 2015 which will take place on the pitch at Griffin Park.
The finals will be contested by eight other representative teams drawn from the remaining four borough competitions.
