Finishing touches will be put on the Griffin Park pitch today ahead of the first match of the 2013/14 season in TW8.
The Bees welcome Millwall to Griffin Park for a pre-season friendly tonight, Tuesday July 16.
It will be the first of more than 30 games played on the surface this season.
In the last six weeks work on the pitch has included removing the grass from the pitch and adding 160 tonnes of sand, which has been worked in to the soil to a depth of 150mm.
A process of laser levelling the playing surface has taken place and new grass seed planted, which has now grown.
Brentford FC Head Groundsman Nick Baldwin said the pitch would be cut twice today and then marked ahead of the match.
He said it is being watered through the night using the irrigation system and pop-up sprinklers installed last summer to ensure the current hot weather does not affect the surface.
“I’m happy with the pitch,” he said.
“It would always be ideal to have slightly longer to renovate over the summer but the weather has been kind to us.
"If you do the right things at the right times, you will produce a good surface although you are always at the mercy of the weather during the season for maintaining it.
“The irrigation system has allowed us to water when needed and we have had a lot of sun.
“Having pop-up sprinklers means we can go away and leave the pitch and we know it will be watered, that is not as easy with travelling sprinklers.
“The new system has been very useful for us; we need it when the weather is like this.
“The pitch is looking better than last year.
“There are a few low areas but that is natural with any levelling and the company we used are coming back in to fix those.
“We are in a good place ahead of the first game.”
