Farid El Alagui said he came through his first 90 minutes since a serious knee injury “without any problems”.
The striker played 90 minutes for Brentford’s Development Squad in their Under-21 Professional Development League Two South win over Swansea City.
Farid headed the opening goal in a 2-1 win for The Bees and said he felt no reaction in his knee.
Farid suffered a serious knee injury in an npower League One match against Crawley Town on October 6.
He has been through a period of rehabilitation and has now played three games for the Development Squad.
He completed 90 minutes for the first time against Swansea and said he was happy to come through.
“I feel tired but it’s a good feeling,” said the striker, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“I am happy to come through the 90 minutes without any problems.
“I am really pleased.
“I have no reaction in my knee, that’s the main thing.
“I am happy with the performance.
“I feel I am playing normal football now.
“I am happy to have played three games.
“The first 90 minutes was the most important thing today.
“I was a bit scared to see how it would go but I am happy.”
Farid scored when he rose highest to head home a Charlie Adams corner in the fifth minute.
Brentford added a second after half time when Leon Redwood scored and although Swansea pulled one back, The Bees never really looked like losing.
“The goals are a bonus in this type of game,” he said.
“I want to help the team win games but the main thing is to try and not get injured and have a bad reaction.
“This is my type of goal.
“I love this type of ball, I try to get in and find the right position to meet the ball..
“It was a perfect corner from Charlie and easy to put it in the net.
“It was my type of goal and I am happy.”
Farid played as the central of three strikers, along with Antonio German and Luke Norris, and said he enjoyed the role of winning the ball, holding it up and looking for his fellow front men.
He said The Bees played a more direct style due to the conditions and to try and get used to the way Brentford’s First Team are being forced to play on current npower League One pitches.
“I played as a lone striker [at Falkirk] last year so I am used to the sort of role I played,” he said.
“I liked it.
“I enjoy it, I try to play in the players around me.
“Antonio and Luke have to find the right run at the right time.
“Conditions meant we have to change the style today.
“The pitch was a bit hard and bobbly.
“We tried to go more direct for the first 20 to 25 minutes, this is what the First Team has to do at the moment because pitches are not the best.
“You can’t pass the ball every day.
“I think the Manager [Uwe Rösler] was happy to see we could do it in this game.
“There has to be a relationship between the Development Squad and the First Team.
“A young player has to know how the First Team plays.”
Farid said he was unlikely to feature in Brentford’s next npower League One match, against Crewe Alexandra tomorrow, but could play First Team football soon.
“I am not far away,” he said.
“The team is playing on Wednesday.
“That is too soon for me, I have played 90 minutes today.
“But for the next game [against Portsmouth on Saturday], why not?”
