More than 100 Bees fans were at Griffin Park last night for the latest Fans Forum.
Sporting Director Mark Warburton, Manager Uwe Rösler, Assistant Manager Alan Kernaghan, Head of Medical Neil Greig, Head of Conditioning Chris Haslam, Club Captain Kevin O’Connor and long-serving goalkeeper Richard Lee were all available to answer questions for more than 90 minutes.
They spoke on a range of subjects including each outlining their roles at the Club and explaining how each department works to support the First Team and Academy players and liaising with other clubs concerning loan players.
Manager Uwe Rösler answered specific queries relating to where individual players fit in to the squad.
There was also an update on the planning application for a new stadium at Lionel Road from Brian Burgess, who is working on the project.
Brian thanked everyone who had written in and explained there had been more than 1,000 letters of objection to the scheme.
He added: “In football terms, it is squeaky bum time.
“The planning decision will be on December 5 and we do not know how it will go.
“The planning officers are writing their report at the moment.
“It is important more letters are sent in.”
When speaking about his specific role, Mark Warburton said: “Uwe is in charge of training and formations and has the final say of all players coming into the Club, we talk about who is appropriate, but Uwe has the final say.
“I will be involved with agents and contracts and will go out and scout players if needed.”
Later in the evening, he added: “We have an idea of what sort of player we want and our scouting team go and find them.
“We have built a high quality of our support network; they have all worked at Premier League level.
“We have good facilities and good work being done to improve them.
“That makes us attractive when we try and bring in players.
“Clubs like Everton and Cardiff City have got to be sure they are well looked after, a DVD and report is sent after each game.”
Neil Greig said: “My job is to oversee medical provision from the First Team down to the Under-Nine squad in the Academy.
“My main role is to allow the good people we have recruited to do their jobs.”
Chris Haslam said: “I primarily work with the First Team but there is a three-man team that covers all age groups.
“We make sure players can cope with the level they are playing at.
“For the First Team that is being able to play Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday for a younger player it is being able to play at their level.”
Uwe answered questions about tactics, formations and how his team plays.
He said there was a perception, created by people formerly working for the Club, that Brentford were spending lots of money.
Uwe explained his playing budget had increased this season, having remained the same for his first two seasons at the Club as it was in the year before he arrived, but was lower than others in the division.
He also explained why Brentford defended with 11 men back at corners and why he had chosen his team in the past few weeks with Alan McCormack at right back and Jonathan Douglas in midfield after returning from injury.
“We want to pass out from the back and Alan McCormack is a better passer of the ball than Shaleum Logan.
“Jonathan Douglas has been enormous for us, he marshals the midfield, other players have got better with him in there.”
Uwe added: “We need too many chances to score a goal at the moment.
“We know this and are working on it.
“We want to play 4-3-3 and will do this whoever we play again.
“It is more like a 4-1-2-3 and the two, Adam Forshaw and George Saville, have the licence to get in to the penalty area.
“They look like scoring more goals now.
“I am thrilled with the potential we have, our players will get better.
"At the end of the season, we will be there fighting for promotion.”
