Brentford’s section of the FA Youth Cup draw is a little clearer after two non-league teams faced each other earlier this week.
When the draw for the Second Round was made last week Brentford or Gillingham were given a home tie against Canvey Island, Dulwich Hamlet, Brentwood Town or Potters Bar Town.
Brentwood beat Potters Bar 4-2 on Monday, October 21, to reach the First Round proper where they will face Canvey Island or Dulwich Hamlet away from home.
Canvey Island will host Dulwich Hamlet tonight, Wednesday October 23.
The draw for the First Round proper of the country’s premier Under-18 competition gave The Bees an away game against Gillingham.
That tie will be played at Gillingham’s MEMS Priestfield on Tuesday November 5.
The winners of the will now play Canvey Island, Dulwich Hamlet or Brentwood Town.
The winners of the Canvey Island and Dulwich Hamlet tie will play Brentwood before Saturday November 9 to earn a place in the Second Round proper.
The Second Round tie must be played before Saturday November 23.
Two seasons ago Brentford reached the Fourth Round of the competition, when they were unluckily beaten by Premier League Stoke City.
Last year The Bees were beaten by Reading in the Third Round.
Many of the players involved in those runs will be available this season.
Brentford’s Youth Team have played eight Under-18 Professional Development League Two games this season, winning two and drawing two.
