Youth Team striker Bradley Clayton gave his reaction to the Youth Team’s Semi-Final victory against Huddersfield Town that puts them into the national final against Charlton Athletic.
“Everyone is extremely excited,” said Bradley.
“After the disappointment of the FA Youth Cup and not winning the league, this is all we’ve got left to play for.
“We want to leave it with a win so we want to go on and win the tournament now.
“In the dressing room beforehand you can hear everyone saying that we didn’t want to repeat that; it helps you get up for the game and play well.”
He explained the team’s winning performance, which progressed as the match went on.
“In the first half we slightly edged them but in the second, we stepped up the tempo of the game,” said Bradley.
“I think we were slightly nervous first half and second half we got it down, played our football, battled hard and imposed ourselves more on the game.
“It showed great character, which we knew we had.
“To come back from 1-0 down is always good to show it, especially in a Semi-Final.
The 18-year-old, who is top scorer with 15 goals this season, described his winning goal that set him and his team mates up for the final, which is likely to be played at Griffin Park.
“I saw Courtney [Austin] got the ball and there was a space in behind,” said Bradley.
“He made a terrific pass to find me and I made sure I scored.
“I used to struggle with dealing with mistakes, and as striker you can never let it get you down because everyone misses and it’s how you respond to that.”
