Alan Judge said his 2014 pre-season had been really enjoyable so far.
The attacking midfield player joined The Bees in the summer from Blackburn Rovers.
He agreed a permanent switch after a successful loan spell last season where he scored seven goals in 22 games.
Brentford have been back in pre-season for around a month.
They spent 11 days in Florida on a training camp and have started their friendly programme.
Brentford beat Boreham Wood last week and Barnet yesterday evening.
Alan scored two in a 5-1 win at Barnet and spoke to Bees Player after the match.
“It is going great,” he said.
“I have enjoyed it a lot.
“We are doing a lot of work with the ball and not so much running, which is a good thing.
“America was brilliant.
“It was hard work but we were lucky enough to stay in a nice hotel and train in a nice training facility.
“The lads loved it out there and hopefully we will reap the rewards.
“Different people take different things out of pre-season.
“It is mostly about getting fit.
“You can win all your pre-season games and lose your first two in the league or the other way round.
“For me, it is about getting fit.
“A couple of goals will give me confidence going in to the first couple of games.”
There is just over two weeks until Brentford start their Sky Bet Championship season against Charlton Athletic on August 9.
It will be their first game in the second tier since 1993 after winning promotion from League One last season.
Before that fixture Brentford have home friendlies against OGC Nice, CA Osasuna and Crystal Palace.
Alan said the squad was taking one game at a time.
“The lads are looking forward to it,” he said.
“We have started the pre-season games; the lads have minutes under their belts.
“We are looking forward to it big time.
“But we must take each game as it comes and we have big tests.
“We have Nice, Osasuna and Palace so we have good games before August 9.”
Alan said every game in The Championship will be one to remember.
“All our games are big games,” he said.
“I will look forward to every game because we have to perform in every game.
“No disrespect to League One but we will go to stadiums that hold more than 20,000.
“They are big games in big stadiums and you need to take in the atmosphere.
“I don’t think there is a player here that won’t want to play in those sorts of games.”
