Brentford teenager Giancarlo Poveda has been called-up to the England Under-16 squad for a forthcoming training camp. The 15-year-old will be with the national side for three days later this month.
He will spend a weekend with the England squad, training with the some of the most talented Under-16 players in the country.
Giancarlo has been at Brentford for just under a year. He has already played for Brentford’s Development Squad – against Charlton Athletic in April – in the Under-21 Professional Development League. He was previously on trial at Barcelona and was brought to Brentford by Miguel Rios, who has links with the Catalan club. It is further international recognition for Brentford’s Academy.
Josh Bohui was part of the England Under-16 group last season, Harry Francis was called to an England Under-15 training camp and Julius Fenn-Evans played for Wales Under-16 squad.
Additionally, Ross McMahon was also called up for a Scotland Under-16 training camp, Youth Team player Kyjuon Marsh-Brown was called up to the Antigua and Barbuda full squad and Nik Tzanev played for New Zealand Under-20 when in Brentford’s Academy.

When a player gets a call-up like this it is a boost for him and for everyone around him. Playing international football at any level is a great challenge and an opportunity for players to learn. I am sure he will go to the camp and represent the Club in the best way possible, he will also be able to develop and help those around him.”
