Development Squad midfielder Tyrell-Miller Rodney said there was a lot of disappointment in the camp following their 3-2 loss to Colchester United on Tuesday.
The Bees were 2-0 ahead after 12 minutes thanks to goals from Bradley Clayton and Charlie Adams.
The Essex side made it 2-1 just before the break as Drey Wright was fouled by Tyrell and he put away the spot kick.
It was 2-2 just after half-time as Dion Sembie-Ferris scored from the edge of the box and the comeback was complete nine minutes from time when Wright got his second direct from a free-kick.
Speaking to Bees Player after the game Tyrell said it was very disappointing to let the two goal lead slip.
The 20-year-old also said he didn’t believe it was foul which led to Colchester from the spot on the stroke of half-time.
“It is a very disappointed dressing room,” said Tyrell.
“I thought first-half we were in the ascendancy and we were 2-0 up.
“It went 2-1 at the end of the first-half and to come out of the game losing 3-2 is really disheartening.
“I think the boys are really sad about the loss.
“We were in a winning position and we should have won the game.
“Everyone is upset that we lost it.
“After 15 minutes we were in the ascendancy and we were in cruise control.
“We were all over them really.
“We were passing them off the pitch and working harder than them.
“If was unfortunate for us that I gave away the penalty and that shifted the momentum so to say.
“I didn’t think it was a penalty.
“He came across me and he pushed his bum out.
“He even laughed after it was given but that happens in football and you have to move on.
“For the last couple of weeks it has been individual errors causing us to lose games and it was the same today.
“Being 2-1 up we should be at them in the first five minutes.
“We weren’t able to handle them coming at us and unfortunately they got the goal.”
The Bees were in total control of the game for much of the first-half with Tyrell and Louis Hutton allowed time and space in The Bees midfield to dictate the game.
That changed in the second-half as Colchester pressed higher and turned the game into more of a battle in the midfield.
Tyrell thought that tactical change helped to swing the game to the advantage of the home side as it stopped The Bees playing their natural game.
“In the first-half I thought we had a lot of space in the midfield because they didn’t press us as high,” said Tyrell.
“When we went 2-0 up their manager probably told them to press the two centre midfielders who were Louis Hutton and myself, and then Emmanuel Oyeleke when he came on.
“It was very tight in there and me and Manny couldn’t get on the ball because they were up us so quickly.
“It was very tough but we should be able to deal with that but unfortunately we weren’t able to deal with that.
“In the first-half I thought we battled quite well but in the second-half I thought we went off the ball in terms of winning tackles and winning second balls and the first header.
“In the second-half they were the better team at doing that.
“To win the game we had to compete for the whole 90 minutes and unfortunately I don’t think we did it.”
Tuesday’s match was Tyrell’s first 90 minutes of an injury affected season.
The midfielder managed 30 minutes at Crewe Alexandra on the opening day of the season before completing a half against Coventry last week.
Tyrell said it was tough getting through his first 90 minutes but he thinks that with each passing game he is getting back to near his best.
“After 75 minutes I did feel my legs go but I am a fit lad and mentally I am strong enough to get through things like that,” said Tyrell.
“It was a good blow out for me and hopefully I can get another run out soon.
“I feel like the rustiness is coming out and I am getting back to the level that I was showing at the end of last season.
“I need to kick on and play well.
“I think I showed the attacking side of my game in the friendly against Crystal Palace where I got forward for the goal.
“I am working with Jon and the coaching staff on getting forward more and getting into the red zone.
“Hopefully I can get more goals this season.
“My aim is to get 10-15 goals and even though I know it is will be a big push I think I have it in my locker.”
