While the Sky Bet Championship season is still very much alive and Brentford’s Youth Team still have one more vital game to play, the campaign has ended for the Under-21 players.
Brentford’s Development Squad ended their season last month and the final matches in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South season were played last week.
Crystal Palace, who were beaten 3-0 by The Bees in January, ended up top of the southern section of the league, ahead of Swansea City.
Cardiff City, who Brentford beat home and away, were third with Queens Park Rangers, another team Brentford did the double over, in fourth.
The Bees ended the season eighth in the table but were only four points behind Ipswich Town, who finished fifth.
Brentford, managed by Lee Carsley, were second top scorers in the league, behind Palace, but only Bristol City, who ended up bottom, conceded more goals.
In the northern section Nottingham Forest, who won 3-0 at Griffin Park, topped the table ahead of Huddersfield Town, who also beat The Bees this term.
Semi-Finals are played between the teams in the northern and southern sections to decide the overall Under-21 Professional Development League Two winners and those are played this week.
There were victories for both away sides in two tightly contested Semi-Finals with Swansea beating Forest on penalties after a 3-3 draw and Huddersfield winning 5-3 at Selhurst Park against Palace after extra time.
