Lee Carsley's Development Squad recovered from conceding within 40 seconds to come back and draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South this afternoon at the Nigel Doughty Academy.
Joe Worrell headed the hosts into a first minute lead which they held until the hour mark despite The Bees creating a number of chances.
Sam Saunders levelled with a crisp shot from the edge of the box but Jamie Fullarton's side re-took the lead a minute later when James Thorne hammered home from 10 yards.
However Zain Westbrooke ensured The Bees returned down the M1 with a deserved point with a fine curling effort 11 minutes from time.
Fresh from their Brentford debuts in last week's Capital One Cup match with Oxford United Courtney Senior, Josh Laurent and Jermaine Udumaga all started for Carsley's side.
Things couldn't have begun worse for The Bees as Forest won an early corner which Worrell nodded home unmarked from five yards.
However, with The Bees midfield trio of James Ferry, Jan Holldack and Sam Saunders outnumbering their Forest counterparts, Brentford quickly took control of the match.
Saunders curled a free-kick inches wide and then, with his next effort from distance, brought the best out of Ross Durrant in the home goal.
Durrant rescued his team again a minute later with a fine double save to deny Udumaga and Montell Moore from close range.
Forest's raids forward were rare as the half went on but on one counter they nearly doubled their advantage, Luke Thomas volleying the impressive Deimantas Petravicius' cross the wrong side of the far post.
It was at the other end that most of the goal action was coming and Jan Holldack saw an effort blocked before Saunders curled a shot narrowly wide.
The Bees thought they had equalised with seven minutes of the half to go as Moore's effort hit the bar, then the back of the post and came out via the goal-stantion but the officials failed to spot the ball crossing the line and waved play on, Holldack's effort on the rebound was blocked and Senior dragged his effort across the face of goal.
The second-half started in a similar vein to how the first had ended as aside from a Petravicius shot that Jack Bonham held smartly it was Brentford created all the chances.
Moore's sweetly struck effort was bravely blocked by Worrall, Aaron Greene volleyed wide and Moore was denied again by Durrant before The Bees finally got the leveller.
Andreas Karo failed to clear a long-ball forward and when Alex Iacovitti's header landed at the feet of Saunders, the winger switched the ball onto his left foot and found the bottom corner from 18 yards.
Having worked so hard to get level The Bees then undid all their work as Karo's long throw was allowed to bounce and Thorne swiveled to hammer home from eight yards.
Thorne should have settled the match with 20 minutes to play but he could only head wide when unmarked.
Substitute Nikolay Tododrov brought a smart save out of Bonham before The Bees grabbed a second leveller with 11 minutes to play - Clarke did well to beat two men and get into the box and his cutback was swept home, via both posts, by Westbrooke from the edge of the box.
Both sides went looking for a late winner but the closest either came was a Tom Field volley which found only the side netting.
The draw leaves Lee Carsley's side unbeaten this season ahead of next Monday's local derby at home to QPR.
