Brentford Assistant Manager David Weir said The Bees were disappointed to lose to Swindon Town but would not get too down.
The Bees were beaten 1-0 in Wiltshire on Saturday.
They conceded the only goal of the game late in the first half, after David Button had saved a Swindon penalty early on, and had Adam Forshaw sent off for two yellow cards in the second period.
But David, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live, praised Brentford’s players for their performance.
He said they created plenty of chances and kept going after the red card to try and salvage a point.
Jonathan Douglas and Marcello Trotta both hit the woodwork while Swindon goalkeeper Wes Foderingham made a fine save from a George Saville shot.
“We are disappointed to lose, we put a lot in to the game,” said David.
“We looked dangerous with ten men and created chances, we did all the right things.
“We don’t get too down.
“There were a few that were close; we hit the bar and the post.
“We opened them up.
“They were hanging on, that is encouraging.
“They showed the effort, they showed they were still pushing at the end.
“The keeper made a great save from George.
“The incidents didn't quite fall for us, nine times out of ten that goes in – credit to him for saving it.
“We don’t want to accept it as not being our day, the lads kept creating chances, which is pleasing.
“They kept going and responded in the right way, that’s a great sign.
“We are disappointed to lose but there are positives.”
Swindon’s goal came when David Button played a heavy ball at throat height in to Jonathan Douglas, the Brentford man was robbed as he took the pass under control and Louis Thompson raced on to score.
“We don’t point fingers,” said David.
“We are disappointed to concede a goal at any time, there were a few lads involved and we will look at it.
“That happens and it’s how you react.
“I felt we reacted well.
“We don’t want to discourage players from taking the ball in tight situations, that is how we play.
“We have been successful with it.
“We will get caught now and again and chances will come but the positives outweigh the negatives.”
David said he didn’t feel The Bees got the rub of the green in terms of decisions from referee Brendan Malone.
He said he wasn’t sure Swindon’s penalty was a foul and questioned where Adam Forshaw had made contact with Raphael Rossi-Branco when he was shown a second yellow card.
“I haven’t seen the penalty again,” said David.
“I wasn’t convinced at the time.
“We didn’t get the benefit of the big decisions today; there were a few that didn’t go our way.
“You have to accept it and move on.
“We won’t complain about it.
“I don’t think Adam made contact for the second yellow, it looked worse than it was.
“I was right in front of it, the lad rolled around.
“We should have been cleverer and Adam will be disappointed.
“I am not sure it was a yellow card but he let the referee make a decision.”
Brentford are second in Sky Bet League One with four games to go.
They are six points behind leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers and seven ahead of Leyton Orient, who are third.
The Bees are also eight clear of Rotherham United and Preston North End and David said they had not given up on winning the title.
“We want to get promoted, that is the main aim, but we want to catch Wolves as well,” he said.
“They have had a great season but we want to catch them.”
