Assistant Manager David Weir said Brentford probably deserved to beat Crewe Alexandra by more than three goals to one.
The Bees won in Cheshire on Saturday afternoon thanks to a brace from Alan Judge, from a combined distance of approaching 50 yards, and a 35-yard effort from Adam Forshaw.
On a wet pitch, that held up well, David said Brentford had produced a good performance.
David, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live after the win, said the players had shown what they were capable of, and deserved more than a 3-1 win.
He added it was a shame Crewe were awarded, and subsequently converted, a penalty when referee Tim Robinson decided an offence of handball had been committed when Harlee Dean headed away a free kick and the ball rolled down the arm of Clayton Donaldson.
“The lads played really well,” said David.
“The conditions, again, were difficult, but we have tried to preach that it shouldn’t stop us doing what we do.
“The first half, especially, was a great example of how well we can play.
“You couldn’t pick fault with any of the players.
“We got started and moved it through the pitch.
“In difficult conditions it shows it doesn’t have to be an excuse.
“The lads did what they were capable of.
“We set a standard again today.
“It is a shame we didn’t get a clean sheet because of a debateable penalty.
“It could have been a few more and the lads probably deserved that.”
David said Brentford’s goals was down to the talent of the players involved and said it was great to be able to call on it.
Alan Judge smashed a shot in to the top corner to put Brentford ahead inside the first ten minutes and the attacker doubled the lead with a 25 yard shot early in the second half.
Adam Forshaw made the game safe with a 35-yard strike just after the hour mark.
Brentford could have scored more and David said it would be nice to convert some of the simpler chances.
“The quality of those goals is down to pure talent,” said the Brentford Assistant Manager.
“It is great to have that quality in the team.
“We probably scored our more difficult chances today.
“We had a lot of chances, sometimes it goes like that.
“It would be nice to score the easier ones as well.”
Speaking about Crewe’s goal, David said: “It was given for handball.
“I didn’t think it was a penalty.
“I didn’t see a deliberate handball.
“I felt aggrieved for David Button and the defenders, they want clean sheets.
“It was disappointing for them.
“Overall the performance was excellent.”
Brentford remain top of Sky Bet League One, two points clear of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
David said the players and staff, including Brentford Manager Mark Warburton, were only concentrating on themselves and the next match.
That next match is against Wolves, at Griffin Park next Saturday.
David said it was just another match and The Bees had to play the opposition and not the occasion.
“We try to focus on ourselves,” he said.
“The manager is very keen that we do our jobs and let the rest take care of themselves.
“That is the attitude in the dressing room.
“We are concerned with what we have done and how we get better.
“That has given us the best chance.
“Next week is another game for us.
“We have to play the game not the occasion.
“Today we showed how good we can be.
“We have to turn up and put in to practice what we work on from Monday to Friday.
“Today we did that, the performance showed the belief they have.
“We will focus on a game at a time.
“We have a healthy squad and players pushing for places.
“We have a healthy environment.”
