Daniel O’Shaughnessy believes that he and his teammates didn’t deserve to be on the losing side after they let a 1-0 lead slip to lose 3-1 against Hull City at North Ferriby United.
James Ferry put The Bees in front before the hosts hit back through Will Annan, Conor Townsend and Jarrod Bowen to take the three points on a wet night in the North East.
Speaking to Bees Player after the match Daniel said that was frustrating not to get a result that he felt matched their performance.
“It is a bit sad that we lost but everybody fought really well,” said Daniel. “I don’t think we deserved to lose 3-1. I feel that everybody put in their best today and we were just a bit unlucky that we couldn’t get a better score.
“It was difficult conditions tonight because the pitch was really slippery and they put a lot of crosses into the box. However it was good because we got a lot out of it and it was a good session for us. Lee told us at full-time that we can be proud of ourselves and that the 3-1 doesn’t reflect the game.”
The Bees have taken seven points from their opening five matches of the season and Daniel feels that despite back-to-back defeats the Development Squad have played well so far this season.
“It has been a really good first month,” said Daniel. “I think we have played well. Now we have to work on getting the results.”
The tall defender has recently returned from international duty where he helped Finland’s Under-21s to wins over Russia and Faroe Islands in Euro 2017 qualifying.
Daniel was really pleased with picking up the two wins and said he is learning a lot while he is away in the international set-up.
“It was really good to be away with Finland and we got two wins so it was a perfect start,” said Daniel. “It is a really good level. They are really good games and I am getting a lot out of them. It gives me a lot of confidence to know that I am a Finland Under-21 international.”
