Daniel O’Shaughnessy said he has enjoyed the start to his Brentford career.
The central defender – a Finland Under-21 international with Irish roots – joined The Bees in the close season.
The 19-year-old signed a two-year deal after a successful trial.
He played in pre-season friendlies and has already been on the substitute’s bench twice.
Daniel spoke to Bees Player last week about the start of his time at Griffin Park.
“It has been very nice,” he said.
“I have enjoyed it a lot.
“The other guys have taken to me rally well, I have enjoyed it.
“The football is good.
“We pass and move and play from the back.
“Life in England is good; I am half Irish so I am good with the language.
“It is all good so far.
“In Finland the football is slower but in France we played a similar style to this, it has been good for me.”
Daniel began his career with HJK Helsinki before a move to FC Metz.
He arrived in England after his time in France and said Brentford was a great place to be.
“I played in Finland until I was 17 and then had the opportunity to move to FC Metz, in France,” he said.
“I was there for two and a half years and then had the chance to come here.
“This is a great club, just promoted to The Championship.
“There is a forward vision and a great place to be.
“I like to play football, be brave on the ball and play out from the back.”
Daniel said his aim for the season was to play as many First Team games as possible.
“I want the team to do well and we get in to the top half of the table,” he said.
“I want as much playing time as possible.
“The aim is to get First Team football.”
Daniel is currently away with the Finland Under-21 squad.
He has been called up to the squad for upcoming UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying matches against Wales and San Marino.
Daniel will be looking to add to the three Under-21 caps he has earned so far and Finland can still qualify for the UEFA Under-21 Championships in Czech Republic next summer.
He added that due to his age he will be able to play for Finland Under-21 in the next tournament in 2017.
“It is always nice to play for your country,” he said.
“It is a great feeling.
“We are in the last games of the qualification now and I will have the next tournament too.”
