Dan Bentley is looking forward to getting back into game mode ahead of tonight's pre-season friendly with VfL Bochum. The 23-year-old, who celebrates his birthday today, told Bees Player about his pre-season thus far.
"It's been tough, but refreshing and enjoyable," said Dan. "I've been at the same club for a number of years. To come away and do something slightly different in terms of training, being with different players, getting to know everybody, different staff and slightly different ways of doing things has been really refreshing. It's been hard work at the same time but I've really enjoyed myself so far."
The squad are already aware of who will begin the match this evening, with Dan set to make his first appearance in a Brentford jersey since signing from Southend United earlier this month. He is clearly excited to get started with The Bees.
"It's a good feeling knowing that I'm going to get a game under my belt. I've not played since the end of last season so it will be nice to go out and try a few new things, put into practice what we have been doing in training as a squad and individually as well."
Goalkeeping coach Simon Royce has been quick to praise the attitude of the goalkeepers on tour in Germany, as he continues to sharpen their skills before the first game of the new Sky Bet Championship season. Dan is confident that this is a good thing for everyone involved.
"I've said before in interviews that when you have a good group of goalkeepers that get on well and push each other in training, that's helped the competition. If we are all pushing each other and bringing the best out of each other in training, and therefore in games, it can only bring healthy competition and keep pushing us on as individuals."
