Robert’s family, including his wife Suzanne, and friends have been invited to the game, which will kick-off at 5.30pm and is being broadcast live by Sky Sports. A total of 82 people will be guests of the Club on Saturday and will be present for a minute of applause before the game. The Club is encouraging all fans to arrive early on Saturday to ensure they can pay their respects to Robert and thanks Middlesbrough FC and the EFL for their support of the tribute.
The Brentford players will be wearing special black armbands for the game and these will be available for the Brentford B squad when they play their next match – in the London Senior Cup against Metropolitan Police FC next Wednesday. There will also be a special matchday programme dedicated to Robert’s memory. This will include a series of tributes from players and staff past and present, as well as Robert’s family. A floral tribute will also be placed on Robert’s usual matchday seat for the game against Middlesbrough.
The Club has also sought the permission of the EFL to add Robert to the squad list for the rest of the season. He will be allocated the number five shirt for the 2018/19 season and this will appear on the club website and matchday programme for the rest of the campaign.
Robert’s family has also asked the Club to promote the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young to anyone wishing to donate. Brentford FC has a historic relationship with CRY as former manager Andy Scott, who worked closely with Robert when he was here as part of the scouting staff, is a patron of the charity.
