Brentford and other Premier League clubs will dedicate fixtures between 17 and 25 October to the Premier League's No Room For Racism campaign.
At this weekend's fixture against Liverpool at Gtech Community Stadium, the club will raise awareness of the importance of challenging and reporting racial discrimination whenever it is witnessed or experienced.
Brentford is committed to tackling racism and ensuring equity, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do.
Embedding anti-racism through education and action
Brentford believes football should be a place where everyone feels welcome, valued and respected.
Throughout each and every season, the club continues its work in ensuring everyone in our community understands the importance of challenging racism and discrimination. This commitment spans every part of Brentford, from children taking part in sessions delivered by Brentford FC Community Sports Trust through to our senior leadership team.
As part of the Premier League's Primary Stars programme, which helps young people learn, stay active and develop important life skills and is facilitated by the Trust, first-team players Josh Dasilva and Nathan Collins this week joined an anti-discrimination session at a local primary school. Look out for a video from the visit soon.
Our senior leaders continue to take part in an extensive two-year Inclusive Leadership Programme, which concludes early next year and is helping to embed inclusive practices across the organisation.
Brentford coaches recently completed anti-racist coaching programmes delivered by the Premier League, equipping them with the skills and confidence to respond effectively to incidents of racism in football. Alongside this, the club regularly delivers equity, diversity and inclusion learning sessions for all staff.
As part of Black History Month, Brentford will also welcome award-winning historian, broadcaster, author and filmmaker David Olusoga for a special staff event focused on learning and reflection.
The club continues to strengthen its relationship with Show Racism the Red Card, working together to deliver anti-discrimination education sessions and celebrate Black history. This included support for an exhibition recognising Brentford's first-ever Black players.
Standing together against racism
As a community, we stand together against racism and believe it is everyone's responsibility to challenge it.
We support any player, member of staff or supporter who experiences racism, and the club takes strong action against anyone found to have engaged in discriminatory behaviour.
Supporters attending Gtech Community Stadium this weekend will see new messaging encouraging everyone to play their part in creating an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Stadium screens will promote bystander intervention and provide guidance on how supporters can safely challenge, report or respond to incidents of racial discrimination.
The 5Ds of bystander intervention
Distract – Interrupt the situation by creating a distraction or asking a question.
Delegate – Seek support from a steward or member of staff.
Document – Record what happened, where appropriate, and note key details.
Delay – Check in with the person affected afterwards.
Direct – Challenge the behaviour directly, if it is safe to do so.
Creating an inclusive environment is a collective responsibility. Everyone has a role to play in ensuring racism has no place in football or wider society.
Challenge it. Report it. Change it.
If you witness or experience racism, or any form of discrimination, at Gtech Community Stadium, please report it using one of the methods below.
