Brentford Football Club and club partner Cazoo have teamed up to give surplus Bees shirts from previous seasons a new life by donating them to young people in the local community.

Pupils in Year 6 at Holy Trinity CE Primary School received shirts during a special visit from Brentford B team players.

The initiative aims to make football more accessible to local young people, while ensuring high-quality kit continues to be enjoyed rather than going to waste.

Research indicates that an estimated 100,000 tonnes of sportswear ends up in landfill each year, which is equivalent to around 500 million football shirts.

Redistributing surplus stock helps extend the lifespan of existing products, allowing them to be reused while delivering social and environmental benefits.

For many of the pupils, the donation provided an opportunity to own and wear Brentford kit for the first time, helping to strengthen their connection with the club and the local community.

As part of the visit, Brentford B players Andre Grey, Ollie Shield and Joseph Wheeler-Henry spent time with students, taking part in classroom activities and sharing their experiences of life as professional footballers.

Pupils also had the opportunity to ask questions about football, education and their journeys through the game during a Q&A session.

The visit created memorable experiences for students, offering a unique opportunity to engage with players and learn more about the dedication, resilience and teamwork required to succeed in elite sport.
