Speaking after last night's 4-1 victory over Wycombe in which he opened the scoring, Clayton Donaldson said he was hoping to carry his pre-season form into the league campaign and better last year's tally of 11 goals.
Donaldson said: "I didn't score in pre-season last season so it is always good to get that goal as it gives you confidence going into the season and then you want the games to come thick and fast.
"I set myself little targets. I want to beat the season total last year when I got 11 goals. This season I am looking to improve on that and hit more than that. I have got a target and I always try to improve on the season I had before."
Donaldson was also excited by the potential of his partnership with new signing Farid El-Alagui: “We have been playing together in training and in games. We are working well together. He is going for the flick ons and I am getting in behind which is my strength. It works quite well and we have got that balance.”
