Hello all.
It's been a tough week for Brentford Women's FC.
At a meeting held on Thursday with the team, Amy and Roger Crook, together with Leigh Begam explained all.
Unfortunately and sadly our Team Manager Dan Saunders has left Brentford Women's and Girls FC.
We would like to thank Dan for his time and commitment to the club and we wish you all the best in the future.
Leigh Begam has been appointed in the manager's role whilst the coaching position is still being looked into.
Change effects everyone in different ways, some agree, some disagree.
It also takes time for things to settle down.
We have to try and get on with everything that is going on, play football and create results, unfortunately this didn't happen this week.
We traveled down the road to play QPR Development Squad, hoping to secure three points.
The starting line up was: Caroline, Amber L, Judith, Me (Charlotte), Amber LL, Lisa Grant, Vicky James (skipper), Claire (Goody), Lucy E, Dana and Ashley.
Subs were Lavana, Sophie T and Sophie Lee.
We started brightly and created some golden opportunities, trying to get the ball through to Ashley up top.
We could have gone one-up when Ashley got through on goal but she was fouled (leading to a yellow card for the offending player).
Unfortunately Goody sent the free kick over the bar.
After a solid 25 minutes, defending well, we seemed to fall asleep and conceded three goals very close together.
We did manage to get one back though, Ashley Cheatley scored after some composed play down the right side - 3-1.
However, we were undone by counter attacks by their right winger and they scored another two, making it 5-1 at half time.
The second half started with high intensity and everyone was dismayed when QPR were awarded a penalty.
They converted to make it 6-1.
Pleasingly though we carried on pressing and defending well.
We spent the next 30 minutes attacking, creating plenty to put the young QPR side under pressure but we were unable to find the back of the net.
A final breakaway goal for QPR sealed their victory, final score 7-1.
We came away thinking of what might have happened after such a great start, but at the end of the day the better team won the three points.
We have to try and lift our heads from such a big defeat.
Onwards and upwards.
