Aaron Green said Brentford’s Under-21 Professional Development League Two South win over Crystal Palace was “really pleasing”.
And the left back said The Bees produced an “all-round great performance” to take the victory.
Brentford beat Palace 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon with substitute Keshi Anderson coming off the bench to score a hat-trick.
The Bees had been beaten twice by Palace this season, once in a friendly and once in the reverse fixture, but got the better of their South London opponents this time.
“I think it an all-round great performance,” said Aaron, speaking after the match.
“This is the third time we have played them this season.
“We played them in a friendly and they beat us quite heavily.
“At Selhurst Park we did better but they still beat us fairly easily.
“Today we put in a really good performance, kept the ball really well, dominated them all over the pitch and got three great goals.
“It was really pleasing.”
Aaron said Brentford went in at half time disappointed they were not ahead,
They dominated the match and Sam Saunders had a goal ruled out when the officials decided the ball was rolling when he lifted a free kick in from just inside Palace’s half.
Aaron said the game was different to many Under-21 matches, with Palace sitting off.
He said that was good for Brentford.
“For the first time this season it felt like we were the better team, and comfortable,” said Aaron.
“We went in at half time and were disappointed we hadn’t scored a goal.
“It was nice to get the three goals late on.
“It genuinely felt like we were the better team today.
“In most games it is quick with both teams pressing.
“Today it felt like either they couldn’t get near us or they decided to sit off and let us play.
“It was great for us; we love to pass the ball.
“We work on keeping the ball in training.
“It was a great game to play in.
“We mirrored the First Team today.
“Obviously we weren’t as good as they were but we tried our hardest.”
Aaron admitted it was a big relief when Anderson smashed in the first goal from 20 yards.
He said the substitute coming on up front helped Brentford, who had started the match with midfield player Jermaine Udumaga as their striker.
It was also Brentford’s first clean sheet of the Professional Development League season.
“We felt like we needed a goal,” said Aaron.
“We are always likely to concede one.
“It was a big relief when it went in.
“Jermaine has done really well for us up front, as has Betinho when he has played, but it is nice to have someone who knows how to play up front and scores goals.
“That is our first clean sheet of the season, which is brilliant.
“When we had the ball and kept it well we pinned them back.
“When they left players up it was harder, we worked around it.”
Aaron played with Saunders in front of him and Tony Craig next to him.
“It was brilliant playing with Sam,” he said.
“He is so experienced, he always helps you.
“He comes inside which allows you to bomb on.
“I have played with Tony before and he is talking all the time.
“You can trust everything he says.
“If he says to push on or drop back you know it will be right.”
Brentford’s next match is away to Cardiff City on Monday.
The Bees still have 12 games left to play and Aaron is hoping to building momentum.
“Hopefully we can build on this win,” he said.
“We go to Cardiff next week.
“We can then look to get another win and go from there.”
