Jon De Souza's Youth Team made it four wins from five in the Under-18 Professional Development League Two South after a comfortable 4-2 win at home to Colchester United.
The scoreline did little to emphasise Brentford's dominance over the course of the game and it was only a sloppy final 20 minutes that gave the score respectability for the visitors.
Bradley Clayton put The Bees ahead after five minutes and it was 2-0 midway through the first-half as Clayton grabbed his second of the game and 12th of the season.
The visitors pulled one back from the spot ten minutes before the break but James Ferry, who gave the penalty away, atoned for that error by blasting home a third on the stroke of half-time.
The game was put to bed eight minutes into the second-half when Zain Westbrooke fired home an unstoppable free-kick from 30 yards but some late sloppy play by The Bees allowed George Brown to grab a consolation for the visitors.
Jon's side reverted to a 4-4-2 diamond for the visit of the Essex club who beat them 5-3 in early January with Reece Cole and Jeremiah Kamanzi dropping to the bench to be replaced by Kyjuon Marsh-Brown and Makhosini Khanye.
In a game between top and bottom in the league it was the league-leaders Brentford who imposed themselves from the off, hemming The Us deep into their own half and bossing possession.
Herson Rodrigues Alves had already flashed a drive over the bar before Clayton gave Brentford a fifth minute lead, twisting past Jamie Stephens and finishing unerringly into the bottom corner.
The goal settled Brentford and they went on to dominate the first-half.
Marsh-Brown shot into the arms of Callum Robinson, Khanye and Clayton couldn't force the ball home from close range, Ferry saw a shot deflected behind for a corner and Robinson did well to tip a fierce Westbrooke drive over the bar.
All the visitors had to show for their efforts in the first 15 minutes was a Diaz Heenan shot that was half saved by Nik Tzanev before Seth Owens scrambled it away.
Eventually Brentford's pressure told as they doubled their advantage midway through the half, Clayton again the scorer as he prodded home from six yards from Ferry's inviting pullback.
Clayton's brace took him to 12 goals in 16 games for the season but the 17-year-old had yet to net a hat-trick in his career.
He set about trying to rectify that but his shot from 25 yards flew over the bar before Westbrooke saw an effort well held by Robinson.
Just as it looked like Brentford were going to run away with the game Colchester got back into it as Ferry upended Dunne inside the area and the winger coverted low to Tzanev's left from the spot.
Ferry, however, didn't have to wait long to make up for his error as Clayton charged down a Robinson goal-kick and he squared for the tall midfielder to fire home from the edge of the box.
The Bees missed a great chance to make it 4-1 early on in the second-half as Khanye raced clear one on one but Robinson stood up tall and made a fine block save.
Robinson had no answer four minutes later as Westbrooke delivered an inch perfect free-kick that arced away from the visiting goalkeeper and flew into the top corner from 30 yards.
Clayton, still chasing that elusive hat-trick, shot over and Westbrooke pulled a shot across the face of goal from 15 yards.
Jon De Souza made a number of changes on the hour to freshen things up and that rather disrupted Brentford's play and allowed Colchester back into the contest.
Sloppy passing and poor decision making was the order of the day for the final half hour and that suited the visitors.
Audrius Laucys made a good block from a Joe Tennant header at the back post but, in the dying minutes, Colchester did wrestle one goal back as Romayne Pennant's loose pass was picked up by Brown and he curled home into the far corner from 15 yards.
The goal did little to change the complexion of the game as Brentford made it 13 points from a possible 15 ahead of the crunch match against Crystal Palace next Saturday.
