Seika Jatta scored in injury time as Brentford kept their spot at the top of the Under-18 Professional Development League Two South after a 2-1 win over Ipswich Town at Jersey Road.
The Bees controlled the first-half and took a deserved lead on the half-hour as Bradley Clayton scored his sixth goal in nine games after a fine team move.
A triple substitution by The Tractor Boys on the hour changed the game and Ipswich levelled things with 10 minutes to go through Shane McLoughlin.
It looked like that was how things would end but Nik Tzanev's long kick released Jatta and he kept his cool to round Jacob Marsden and slide the ball home from close range.
Jon De Souza's side were looking for their first home win in three games and trialists Ellis Bellamy and Ukasayah Nassrullah-Wallace came into the side as well as the returning Clayton.
Ipswich Town came to West London as one of a number of sides in the chasing pack just behind The Bees and in the early stages they seemed content to let Brentford dominate possession.
The opening stages of the game followed the same pattern as last week's defeat to Crystal Palace with Brentford keeping the ball well against an opposition sitting deep against them.
Neither side looked particularly threatening in the opening stages and apart from a Clayton shot saved by Marsden and a Kingsley Eshun shot cleared off the line by Sam Ford Ipswich looked relatively comfortable.
Ford saw a shot blocked well by Gradi Milenge and Cemal Ramadan curled a free-kick well wide before Brentford took the lead on the half-hour.
Eshun did well to get in down the right and his backheel from the byline was turned into the box by Bellamy and Clayton coolly slotted home from 10 yards.
Ipswich were stunned into life by the goal and Tzanev made one regulation save to deny Edward Ellis before producing a fine save to turn Ford's fierce drive behind for a corner.
Clayton could have doubled The Bees' lead but he could only poke Eshun's cross the wrong side of the post as he threw himself at the ball.
Bellamy, son of former Welsh International Craig, should have doubled Brentford's lead seven minutes from half-time but, having done brilliantly to get through the defence, he lacked composure and blasted high over the bar from the penalty spot.
Ramadan and Ellis both fired straight at Tzanev as Brentford went into the break a deserved one goal to the good.

Tom Field could have doubled Brentford's lead but Joshua Emmannuel made a vital block tackle after Field had broken the offside trap.
McLoughlin saw a shot deflected just wide before Walton Owen blazed a glorious chance to level over the bar from 10 yards.
Walton Owen saw another effort deflected behind for a corner while at the other end Kyjuon Marsh-Brown shot wide from the edge of the box.
Tzanev had been fairly underused in the second period but he produced a wonderful save a minute later to turn away Walton Owen's shot.
The pace of Eshun was causing the visitors defence all sorts of issues and Marsden made an excellent block save after he had left Nicholas Ingram for dead latching on to a through ball.
That save was made to look even more important as Ipswich equalised less than 60 seconds later when Jones hung up a fine deep cross which McLoughlin powered home from eight yards.
Rather than letting the equaliser affect them Brentford went straight back on the attack looking to retake the lead.
Milenge's header was well held by Marsden but Town gave the ball away from his throw out and both Cole and Eshun had shots turned away by the Ipswich stopper.
McLoughlin headed over unmarked from 10 yards while Zain Westbrooke did well to turn out a couple of tackles but Marsden showed good handling to hang on to his long range shot.
As the clock ticked over the 90 minute mark Tzanev launched a free-kick long which Ipswich's defence allowed to bounce and Jatta stole it, rounded Marsden, and slid home from five yards to secure a deserved win for The Bees.
