Brentford Women are on the verge of Capital Cup glory as they face Dorking Wanderers in the final of the intermediate section of the competition on Sunday at Bedfont Sports Club in a 1pm kick-off.
The Women’s first team enter this weekend’s cup final in fine form currently unbeaten in their last seven games but will face a tough challenge against league title rivals Dorking Wanderers who have already beaten the Bees twice this season.
Speaking on Sunday’s fixture, head coach Karleigh Osborne said: “It would mean the world to us if we were able to win this cup final, we have worked tirelessly to get to this stage of the competition so it’s a big opportunity for us to win some silverware which was one of the goals at the start of this season.
“It’s important for us to go and perform and entertain the fans that will be at Bedfont, we know Dorking have a lot of quality but anything can happen in a final and we should go into the game completely fearless.”
The women’s first team have had a solid season so far and still remain firmly in the race for two trophies as we approach the last few games of the campaign.
Osborne’s side currently sit top of the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North and will battle it out with Sunday’s opponents and Clapton Community as they aim for promotion to the Premier Division.
The head coach was in high praise of his team as he went on to talk about the progress his side has made this season.
“I’m super proud of this team, they have been fantastic so far this season and bounced back when results haven’t gone their way. There are still some games to play so I don’t want to speak too soon but to get ourselves to a cup final and to still be competing for the league is an achievement in itself.
“It’s just about us being consistent now until the end of the season and seeing where it takes us, we can only control the games we play and I want us going into matches thinking we want nothing less but the win.”

Four second-half Dorking goals saw the visitors leave Bedfont Sports Club with all three points back in November. The Bees had a positive first half and went into the break level at 1-1 after Chloe Logie scored a great goal on the brink of half-time but Dorking displayed their attacking quality in the penultimate half.

Our Women’s B team also have their eye on some silverware as they take on Millwall Community Trust in the junior section of the Capital Cup following the first team’s game at Bedfont Sports Club in a 4pm kick-off.
Tommy Ryan-Maynard’s side have had quite the journey so far in the Capital Cup overcoming a Ruislip Rangers team who were previously unbeaten, in the first round of the competition and beating AFC Wimbledon Development Girls in a dramatic penalty shootout on their route to the final.
Speaking on the final, head coach Ryan-Maynard said: “We’re all really looking forward to Sunday, since we booked our place in the final I know it’s all the team has been thinking about and I don’t blame them because it’s a chance for the B team to win another cup competition following last year’s triumph.
“It’s been a crazy journey to reach the final, we have played such tough opponents in each round of this competition and I’m hoping we are able to finish this journey with a trophy because this team deserve it.”
The women’s B team may have just missed out on clinching the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One North title to Leyton Orient but despite this Ryan-Maynard remains proud of his team’s efforts this season.
“I’ve been really happy with how we have performed this season, it’s looking like we might just miss out on the league title but I know this group will fight until the very end.
“We started this campaign with a very new squad so for the girls to develop into a great team as they have done has been brilliant. A few of the girls have played first-team minutes this season and even solidified a place in the first-team set-up which is great and it’s exactly what we want to see from this side.”
