Brentford Women will play their final home game of the season on Sunday as they face Dulwich Hamlets Reserves in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North at Bedfont Sports Club in a 3pm kick-off.
The women’s first team currently sit top of the league with assistant head coach Sean Hillier believing his side must win their four remaining games if they want to claim the league title.
Speaking on Sunday’s fixture, Hillier said: “We need to have a good end to the season if we want to finish as champions but first we have to be focused on Sunday against Dulwich, we can’t think too far ahead as it’s going to be a tough game.
“We owe Dulwich one after the defeat to them early in the season so I expect the players to be up for it, we have had a very good season so far but to end it with promotion would be the icing on the cake.
“We’re top of the league right now but Dorking have a few games in hand over us so we must keep the pressure on them by winning our games.”
The women’s first team will look to get back to winning ways after last weekend’s Capital Cup final defeat against Dorking with Hillier feeling confident his side can bounce back.
“I’ve got full confidence that this group can put the cup final defeat behind them and come back even stronger, we have done it a number of times already this season so I don’t feel like the pressure will get to them.
“Despite the loss, I thought we performed well and were really unfortunate not to score so I think there are plenty of positives to take away from the cup final which can help us in our remaining games.”
Last time we met
It was a frustrating day for the Bees in the reverse fixture against Dulwich back in September as a first-half Dulwich strike was enough to secure the win for Sunday’s opposition. Brentford struggled to create any real goal-scoring opportunities throughout and with Chloe Logie coming off the pitch due to an injury early on it was a day to forget for the women’s first team.
