Dana Johnson's hat-trick helped Brentford Women FC on their way to a 5-0 win over Enfield Town LFC Reserves at Lampton School on Sunday. The victory moved Ryan Peters' side up to second place in the Greater London Women's Football League Division One table.
Brentford dominated from the off and finally opened the scoring just before halftime when Lisa Grant’s low driven shot found its way past the Enfield keeper via the woodwork. Sophie Lee’s neat run and through ball was latched onto by Johnson as she scored her first of the afternoon to double the scoreline.
Johnson added her second as she beat the offside trap and lobbed the ball over the oncoming Enfield shot stopper. It was soon 4-0 as Lee’s effort was parried clear but only to Nadia Peters who tucked the ball into an empty net from close range. Fittingly Johnson had the final say, completing her hatrick and moving onto 11 goals for the season, as she converted from the penalty spot after Grant had been fouled.
“It was nice to get our first clean sheet and biggest win of the season," said Lee, speaking after the game. "I felt today we played some great football, especially in the final third and we were clinical in front of goal.”
Next up for the Bees is an away trip to Tottenham Hotspur Development.
