Regan Graver was instrumental for the Bees as they comfortably beat Clapton Community 2-0 at the Old Spotted Dog Ground.
The Women’s first-team defender continued her consistent run of form helping her side keep a clean sheet against the league leaders on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking on the victory, Graver said: “We put in a real team performance and we battled right until the final whistle, there were times when they put us under some pressure but we stayed calm and always recovered well.
“Coming away with the three points away from home is never easy, so for us to beat the one team that are above us in the league and to move within a point of them is a great feeling.”
The Women’s first team entered a hostile environment with the Clapton supporters out in full voice for the all-important top-of-the-table clash.
Despite this, Brentford showed a huge amount of composure and let their football do the talking as they completely outplayed the hosts.
Talking on the atmosphere, Graver explained: “Clapton had a lot of supporters in their corner but to be honest I think all the noise helped us as we seemed to get a buzz from it.
“We were playing high-tempo football which almost matched the atmosphere, I believe we thrive off moments like this and don’t let it have a negative effect on us.”
Graver was hugely influential as the visitors kept the Clapton attackers quiet for the majority of the game as they became frustrated at the limited chances they had on the Brentford goal.
The number three went on to talk about her recent form and the centre-back partnership she has built with Lily Dalton since her arrival.

“I’m feeling confident in my football recently, the coaches have so much belief in me and give me the license to play out from the back which I love doing.
“I’ve really enjoyed playing with Lily, since she has come to the club we have built a good relationship and understand each other’s game well. There’s a lot of competition in the defensive areas so we all acknowledge that we need to be at the top of our game.”
The victory means the Bees are in a great position to exploit their promotion ambitions, but Graver remains grounded and understands there is still plenty of work to do.
“I think the way we’re playing at the moment shows that we have all the credentials to go on and win the league, but we must remain consistent.
“We still have plenty of good teams to play before the end of the season so we must use the momentum we have now and make it last.”
