Brentford Football Club

Brentford Women travel to AFC Whyteleafe on Sunday (3:30pm kick-off) as they look to begin their climb up the London South East Division One North table.

The Bees returned to action last weekend following the Christmas and New Year break, when they won and got through to the quarter-finals of the Trophy Cup with a strong performance.

By the time Sunday arrives, it would have been 11 weeks since Brentford’s last league game, a 4-0 win over Actonians Reserves. They have since tackled FA Cup, League Cup and Trophy Cup games, winning two and losing two of those fixtures.

About Whyteleafe

Whyteleafe come into Sunday’s clash fresh from a 1-0 win over Hastings United in the Trophy Cup, which followed two wins in their last three games to round out 2023.

In the league table, the Leafe sit fifth with five wins, two draws and five losses, but have the same goal difference as Brentford (four).

Isata Kamara leads Whyteleafe with eight goals, while goalkeeper Poppy Anderson is joint-join in the league for clean sheets - she's kept two so far this season.

Last time out

Kirsty Matthews v Welling United

Brentford put together an impressive display last time out to beat Sport London E Benfica 2-1 in the Trophy Cup.

Goals from Kirsty Matthews and Ella Cottrell in the first half set up the victory, a second-half goal to the home side was not enough to trouble the Bees.

Cottrell’s goal was her second in as many games, a promising sign moving forward in 2024 as the west London side eye promotion come the end of the season.
