Chelsey Logan says Brentford Women’s B team can still ‘hold their heads up high’ following the narrow 3-2 defeat to Millwall Community Trust in the Capital Cup Junior Section final at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday afternoon.
Logan made an impressive impact after being introduced to the game in the second-half with the number 22 scoring a brilliant goal leaving for an entertaining finish to the match but Millwall were able to see out the win as they protected their lead late on.
Talking on the game, Logan said: “We knew going into the game it was going to be very tough, we have played teams at a similar level before so we knew it was going to be fast-paced football.
“We fought until the end and it was just disappointing not to get the result but we’ve had a really good cup run so we can still hold our heads up high.”
Despite the Bees going two goals down early on Logan remained confident that her side would be able to find a way back into the game.
They did exactly that just before half-time as Kasey Clifford scored a goal from distance ensuring Brentford halved the deficit going into the break.

“We’ve had similar scenarios in the league this season when we have made a slow start but we always fight and come back so it wasn’t too daunting,” explained Logan.
“There’s been a lot of incidents during the season where we have shown we are a second-half team and have come back and Kasey’s goal definitely lifted the spirits in the dressing room.”
The women’s B team found themselves two goals down again in the second-half after Millwall’s Melissa Jones followed up her saved spot kick to tap the ball into an empty net just 12 minutes after the break.
Following massive amounts of Brentford pressure, they were finally rewarded for their hard work on 81 minutes when Logan curled a brilliant strike from 25 yards over the Millwall keeper dragging her side back into the game.
Speaking on her goal, Logan said: “I tried a similar shot a few minutes before and it didn’t work but the opportunity was there again and I just thought I need to take every shot I can get. It was obviously disappointing that the game didn’t go our way but I’m happy to get a goal.

“I thought that we could have taken it to penalties after that but it’s a 90-minute game and we have to take the loss and move on to the league now.”
With it looking increasingly likely that the women’s B team will finish second in the league this season behind Leyton Orient, the side may be ending the year with no silverware but despite this Logan still thinks there are plenty of positives to take.
“It’s been tight with Leyton Orient this season and we’ve had a magnificent cup run along with the first team so we’re just going to push on now and hopefully next season we can get promotion.”
