Mr Ward took charge of his first Football League game in the 2007/08 season and has refereed 12 Brentford games, many of which will never be forgotten.
He was the man who sent off Darren Powell for an altercation with Karleigh Osborne when Brentford won 1-0 against AFC Bournemouth on Easter Monday in 2009 and took charge of another memorable game that season – the 2-1 home win over Bradford City.
His was the referee for the 3-3 draw with Milton Keynes Dons when Brentford came from 3-0 down at half time to draw in December 2011.
Last season he took charge of a 3-1 win away to Colchester United on Boxing Day and a 1-0 win against Preston North End, when Sam Saunders scored the winner with a 93rd minute penalty.
His last Brentford game was the 1-1 draw with Gillingham in August when Farid El Alagui equalised for The Bees in the dying seconds.
