Brentford have been nominated for the Johnstone’s Paint Community Club of the Year award at the Football League Awards.
The shortlists for the majority of the awards, which will be presented at a ceremony on Sunday March 16, were announced this morning.
Brentford were named on a five-club shortlist for the prestigious community prize.
The nominees are five clubs named best in their region.
Brentford was named as the Community Club of the Year in the South East region.
Other regional winners, and award nominees, are Portsmouth (South West), Derby County (Midlands), Doncaster Rovers (North East) and Morecambe (North West).
The winner will be announced at the March 16 ceremony.
In deciding on a winner, judges consider the objectives of the scheme, breadth of delivery, innovation, impact and achievements in 2013, alongside each scheme's flagship project.
It has been an exciting and rewarding couple of years for both Brentford FC and the Community Sports Trust.
Only a year after commemorating its 25th anniversary, the Trust has worked in partnership with the club to help secure planning permission for the proposed new Brentford Community Stadium at Lionel Road.
In addition to ensuring this landmark decision, the Trust team have continued to develop links with the community through a broad spectrum of sports participation, education, social inclusion, mentorship and disability programmes.
Trust Chief Executive Lee Doyle said, “We are delighted to be nominated for the 2014 Community Club of the Year award.
“Over the last year, the Club and Trust with fans and local stakeholders have worked together to submit an exciting planning application for a new community stadium.
“We look forward to expanding our portfolio of projects and engaging more people as we move towards a new future at Lionel Road.”
“A recent independent study found the Trust is contributing in excess of £8m of social value locally through its annual programmes.
“Since becoming a Trust in 2005, Brentford FC CST has expanded its range of services and last year engaged 14,537 participants in 5745 sessions.”

The shortlists were drawn up by a panel of judges over two days on January 21 and 212, following a stringent assessment process.
Judges included influential members of media, sports industry figures and representatives of The Football League and its partners.
