Juan Pablo Gonzales Velasco's fine volley set Brentford on their way to victory in the opening game of the 2014 Milk Cup against Watford.
The midfielder opened the scoring after 22 minutes with an exquisite touch and volley and the points were wrapped up seven minutes into the second-half when Joshua Bohui tapped home from close range.
The win was no less than The Bees deserved as they took control of the game against a Watford side who will cause plenty of teams at this Milk Cup a problem or two.
It was The Hornets who started the game the brighter and they could have been ahead inside four minutes but Malik Thomas shot straight at Ellery Balcombe from 18 yards.
At the other end Lewis Merridan was alert to head off the line after Jamie Lacy had dropped Giovanni McGregor's corner before Nikola Tavares bundled the ball wide at the back post from close range.
Watford had shaded the game in the opening 15 minutes but they passed up three great chances to make their dominance count as first Balcombe made a great double save to Thomas and Xane Zaineddine from close range.
Moments later Thomas broke clear but Balcombe was out quickly to narrow the angle and turn the ball behind.
Having failed to score when they were on top Watford were then punished by a moment of shear individual skill from Velasco.
The diminutive midfielder receiving Kingsley Eshun's pass, his first touch teed the ball up and his second touch volleyed it into the bottom corner from 15 yards.
Lacy reacted well to turn away Bohui's shot from close range before McGregor hit the side netting from a tight angle on the stroke of half-time.
The Bees delivered the killer blow to the game seven minutes into the second period as good work by Velasco was rewarded when Bohui bundled the ball home at the second attempt from close range.
That goal and the increasingly warm sunshine took the sting out of the game and Brentford began to keep hold of the ball for increasing periods of the game.
With four more games to play in four days it also gave the coaching staff the chance to rotate players to keep everybody fresh ahead of the upcoming games.
McGregor fired an ambitious free-kick wide from 30 yards before Kieron Cathline should have seen red for Watford when he scythed down Julius Fenn-Evans by the corner flag out of pure frustration.
Watford's only real chance of the entire second-period fell to Thomas but he blazed over from 15 yards.
After eight additional minutes the referee finally blew his whistle to signal a winning start to Brentford's Under-15 Milk Cup campaign.
