Brentford will host Premier League side Southampton as part of the pre-season schedule for the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship campaign. The match will take place on Saturday 22 July, kick-off 3pm. The announcement confirms that The Bees now have four pre-season friendlies in place, with Aldershot Town, Oxford United and MK Dons also on the list.A final day defeat to Stoke City saw The Saints finish eighth in the Premier League table last season. Manager Claude Puel was appointed as boss almost a year ago, after Ronald Koeman left to join Everton. The last time the two sides met for a competitive fixture was in League One in April 2011, The Saints going on to win 3-0 en route to promotion back to the Championship. Earlier that season, Brentford had beaten them on their own turf 2-0, the goals coming from Gary Alexander and Charlie MacDonald.Further match and ticketing information will be announced closer to the fixture.
