Brentford Football Club is showing our support for Show Racism the Red Card during tomorrow’s Sky Football League Championship fixture with Bolton Wanderers.
As 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the campaign, SRtRC are asking for all managers and coaching staff to show their support for the campaign by wearing the ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ badges for one assigned fixture.
So far a number of managers throughout the leagues have got involved and shown their support the badges in support. Manchester United, Sunderland, Leicester City, Derby County, Huddersfield Town are just a few examples of clubs that have shown support for Show Racism the Red Card.
In January 1996 Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) was established with the aim of combating racism in society and 20 years on the aim is no different
Throughout 2016, the campaign will be organising a variety of events to celebrate and remember the great achievements of the campaign throughout its 20-year history.
SRtRC will look to involve as many individuals as possible in the 20th anniversary plans, both past and present, who have worked relentlessly and sacrificed their own time to make the campaign what it is today.
Without the hard work from staff, volunteers, funders, supporters, ex-professionals and current professional footballers the campaign would not be able to deliver the fantastic work it does today and has done for the last 20 years.
Head Coach, Dean Smith, said ahead of the fixture, “All of us here at Brentford Football Club, fully support the aims of Show Racism the Red Card and applaud the efforts of all concerned over the last 20 years.
“The continuing programme of education by Show Racism the Red Card is hugely important in helping to eradicate racism not only in football but in society.”
