Halil Dervisoglu scored his first goal for Burnley, netting a 100th-minute winner for Vincent Kompany’s side at home to Rotherham United on Tuesday night.
Dervisoglu was brought on with 20 minutes to play, with the Clarets 2-1 down following Chiedozie Ogbene’s second-half strike. Manuel Benson levelled things in the first minute of injury time, before Dervisoglu slid home the leveller with almost the last kick of the game.
The forward then played the final 13 minutes on Saturday as Burnley were beaten 5-2 at Sheffield United, despite leading twice at Bramall Lane.
Currently top of the table, the Clarets host Ellery Balcombe’s Crawley Town in the EFL Cup tomorrow night, before a huge final game ahead of the World Cup on Saturday as local rivals, and nearest challengers, Blackburn Rovers head to Turf Moor.

Also in the second tier, Tariqe Fosu has been named Stoke City’s Player of the Month for October after coming out on top in a supporters’ poll. The on-loan Bee took 45 per cent of the vote, having featured in every one of The Potter’s October fixtures.
Fosu then began November by featuring off the bench in both of City’s Championship fixtures over the past seven days.
The 25-year-old played the final 23 minutes of Stoke’s 1-0 win at Wigan Athletic on Wednesday and got the same amount of game time at the weekend in a 2-1 defeat at home to Birmingham City. 19th-placed Stoke host Luton tomorrow before visiting West Bromwich Albion on Saturday for their final action before the World Cup break.
Fin Stevens was not involved for Swansea City on Tuesday night as they lost 1-0 at Preston North End. He was then an unused substitute at the weekend for the Swans' 2-2 draw at home to Wigan Athletic. For the rest of our domestic loanees, the FA Cup first round took centre stage this weekend.
Myles Peart-Harris and Daniel Oyegoke were unused subs as Forest Green Rovers and MK Dons avoided upsets against South Shields and Taunton Town, respectively.
Lachlan Brook played the full game as Crewe Alexandra saw off Leyton Orient thanks to a 92nd-minute Bassala Sambou goal.
Paris Maghoma played an hour as AFC Wimbledon were held to a 1-1 draw away at Weymouth, while Ellery Balcombe played the full 90 minutes of Crawley Town’s 4-1 defeat at home to Accrington Stanley.
As well as Balcombe and Crawley, MK Dons are also in EFL Cup action tomorrow, hosting Morecambe.
Back in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday, Forest Green host Wycombe Wanderers while MK Dons are at home to Derby County.

Mads Bech was an unused substitute on Thursday as OGC Nice secured top spot in their Europa Conference League group with a 2-2 draw at Koln. He then wasn’t involved as Nice moved up to ninth in Ligue 1 with a 1-0 win at home to Brest on Sunday. Nice make the trip to Lyon on Friday night for their final action before the World Cup break.
In Holland, Joel Valencia played the full 90 minutes of De Graafschap’s 2-1 defeat to Den Bosch on Friday night, leaving them 15th in the Dutch second tier. The Super Farmers host Jong PSV on Friday night.
