Jon De Souza's Development Squad were beaten 6-3 in a friendly at Jersey Road this afternoon by London neighbours Crystal Palace.
Jon's side included Kevin O'Connor and Raphael Calvet at centre-back while Youth-Team prospects Courtney Senior and Bradley Clayton started in attack.
The Bees started well and Clayton was denied by a fine save from the Palace goalkeeper before he denied Senior on the rebound too.
Brentford were in control of the opening half-hour as Charlie Adams was also denied by a good sprawling save from the Palace keeper.
That save proved to be important as the visitors took the lead five minutes later before they doubled the advantage moments later following a fine move.
It was three eight minutes before the break as Palace's tall striker grabbed his second of the match.
Tyrell Miller-Rodney reduced the arrears just before half-time finishing off a slick passing move from close range.
Any hope Brentford had of using that goal to mount a comeback was dashed eight minutes into the second-half as Palace's number nine completed his hat-trick with a powerful finish from the edge of the box.
His strike partner got in on the act to make it 5-1 on the hour and Palace added a sixth from the spot with 20 minutes to go.
Brentford kept playing until the end and after Adams' had smashed a shot against the bar from the edge of the box a trialist made it 6-2 with a cute finish from close range.
Montell Moore gave the score more respectability with the last kick of the game as his shot from the edge of the box took a deflection and found the bottom corner as the game ended 6-3.
