The draw took place for the 2nd round of The Sky Sports Futsal SOCCER AM Plate on Wednesday.
The Futsal Bees were eliminated in the main first round Cup draw, with a late conceded goal, denying them a point which would have taken them through.
However, yesterday’s draw taking place at The Football League HQ, saw Brentford drawn against Preston North End and Mansfield Town in Group 5.
The BTEC Scholars will once again travel up to Birmingham International Futsal Arena on Tuesday 17th March for their round-robin tournament.
Preston, who play in NW League 1 are currently third in their division, while Mansfield (NM League 1) are in sixth place.
It’s a ‘winner takes all’ round with each group winner progressing to the quarter-final stage of the competition.
Luis Melville, Head Coach of the Futsal team commented afterwards: "These are 2 teams that will be new to us.
"It’s vital that we take the performances in the first round against Cardiff, Crawley and Southampton, plus our superb league match against Brighton, into this tournament."
He also added. "We also have 2 sets of league matches prior to this competition, and we would like the boys to progress as far as possible in the Plate competition’.
This week the Futsal BTEC scholars also added a Strength & Conditioning Coach to the staff with Marti Gotsov taking some of the sessions.
Next up for the Futsal Bees is a double ‘A’ & ‘B’ team West London Derby against Chelsea on Wednesday 25th April at SportHouse Barking.
In the previous encounter, Brentford ‘A’ team lost narrowly 2-1 with the ‘B’ team leading 2-1 with 2 minutes to go, but losing on the buzzer 3-2.
