Jake Bidwell said he wanted to repay the faith Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler and Sporting Director Mark Warburton had shown in him.
The left sided defender signed a three-year contract at Griffin Park after agreeing a permanent switch from Everton.
Jake had previously been on loan at Griffin Park from November 2011 to May 2012 and then from August 2012 to May 2013 and has now signed on until the end of the 2015/16 season.
He was part of the Brentford team that narrowly missed out on promotion to The Championship last season – missing a last-minute penalty against Doncaster Rovers on the final day of the season when scoring it would have sent them up and then losing the Play-Off Final.
Jake said it was a great season despite falling just short and he had seen the ambition of Club Owner Matthew Benham to take the next step.
“I am very happy to come here permanently,” he said.
“It won’t be a massive change for me, I have been here for the last 18 months, but I have clarity now and that can only help.
“I really want to repay the faith the Manager and Mark Warburton have shown in me by bringing me in.
“Last year was a great season.
“We fell short in the end but the Owner’s ambition is there for everyone to see and I am glad to be a part of that.”
Jake said he wanted to help Brentford get to where they want to be and work with a Manager that had helped him a lot.
“I don’t see that I am leaving Everton,” said the left back.
“I am coming back to Brentford.
“I have been here for 18 months and have spent more time here than there over the past two seasons.
“Brentford gave me my first opportunity in First Team football.
“The Manager has helped me enormously since I have been here.
“I want to help get the Club to where we want to be.”
Jake said he had taken a break at the end of the season but was now ready for 2013/14 and another promotion push.
“It was a long season and I played 50 games, I needed a break,” he said.
“It was important to prepare for this season that I had a break.
“But I have had that now and I am ready to get in to it.
“The first aim is to get in to The Championship.
“That was clear last year and will be the same this year.
“I am not looking past that.
“I want to establish myself in the team again and play plenty of games.”
Brentford start pre-season training next week and have a tough schedule of games lines up.
The highlight is a game against Scottish Premier League Champions Celtic and Jake said he was looking forward to it.
“I am sure it will be a good atmosphere against Celtic,” said Jake.
“It will be a good test for us as well.
“They are regulars in the Champions League.
“It is something to look forward to.”
