Head coach Thomas Frank said he has no doubt that his side will bounce back after Brentford were beaten 4-0 by Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
It was a difficult day for the Bees as the home side ran riot in the opening 15 minutes as they got themselves into a three-goal lead through a Leon Bailey strike, as well as two finishes from Danny Ings. Former Brentford forward Ollie Watkins then grabbed a goal in the second half to confirm the score as Villa claimed all three points.
“It’s so tough to say something after a game like this, but in some ways it is very easy," said Frank.
"Don’t go down 1-0 after two minutes, 2-0 down after seven minutes and 3-0 after 14. That sums it up.
“We win together and we lose together, that’s the way it is. We have to keep working hard for each other and I have no doubt that we will bounce back.”
It was a tough opening period for Brentford as Villa really took the game to the Bees at a buoyant Villa Park. The hosts took the lead inside two minutes when Bailey struck first time from a Douglas Luiz pass, before Ings added a double.
On that opening period, Frank said: “We knew that they would come flying out, that they would come with energy. They had combinations on set-pieces, which we needed to deal with better, no doubt about that.
"We know we can’t concede another goal when you go 1-0 down. There was plenty of time to get back into the game and we’ve done that plenty of times this season. It’s a tough thing to take.”
With the Bees 3-0 down at the break, Frank opted to bring on Josh Dasilva and Sergi Canós as they looked to get themselves back into the game with some offensive changes.
On the mindset at the break, the Dane backed his team for an improved second half showing.
“At half-time we said that we needed to keep believing, keep going, and we made some offensive changes.
"They scored a fourth goal when we’d actually had some control and created a few moments. It’s always heart-breaking and so tough at this moment. When you get hit you have you stand up again and move forwards.”

Frank was also keen to praise the travelling supporters who made the journey to Villa Park to back the team, and he said that the side will be fully focused on bouncing back when Wolves travel to the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday 29 October.
He continued: “The fans again, thank you so much for travelling. It’s disappointing that we now have had big defeats in two away games. That’s not what we want to give them, we want to give them good performances and wins. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do that today.”
