Brentford B forward Nathan Young-Coombes has joined Sky Bet League Two side AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan deal.

The young striker, who was the B Team’s top scorer for the 2021/22 season in what was his debut campaign in West London, will now continue his development with The Dons as he links up with fellow Brentford player Paris Maghoma, who joined Wimbledon earlier this month on loan.

Nathan began his career in the youth ranks with Crystal Palace and Chelsea before moving north of the border to sign for Rangers at the age of 16. A couple of years in Glasgow saw Nathan progress to feature for the side’s B Team before he returned to London to sign a three-year deal with Brentford.

His debut campaign with The Bees saw him score 34 times across B Team and Brentford XI matches last season as he collected the B Team’s Player of the Year Award. He also made his First Team debut in May 2022 in the Premier League against Southampton as a second half substitute.

Discussing Nathan’s opportunity to go out on loan, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane said: “We’ve seen how the B Team has flourished over the past year or so and that is represented in the fact that clubs in the Football League think highly of our players. Nathan came to us from Rangers and in one year we have seen him progress a great deal. He’s the fittest he’s ever been and has really bought into us over the past year which has seen him go on to score a large number of goals.

“He trained up with the First Team and earned himself a debut in the Premier League last season which is a great achievement, and for him to now get the opportunity to step out on loan and continue his development in the Football League is an exciting challenge for him. He will continue to learn with AFC Wimbledon and we look forward to watching how he progresses over the coming season."
