Brentford defender Raphaël Calvet played 45 minutes for France’s Under-20 side in a match yesterday.

France played Ukraine’s Under-21 side in a friendly yesterday afternoon, Wednesday March 5.

Raphaël played the second half of the match, which ended 1-1.

It was his fourth Under-20 cap.

The 20-year-old, who joined The Bees from AJ Auxerre for an undisclosed fee last September, has played for France at youth level and captained the squad which reached the Quarter-Finals of the 2011 FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

He was also part of the France squad at the Jeux de la Francophonie, a cultural and sporting event for French speaking nations where 14 countries sent their Under-20 teams to take part in the football event, and played against Denmark in a friendly match in October.

His four Under-20 caps go with 12 at under-16 level, 20 for the Under-17s and eight Under-18 caps.
