Brentford B’s Max Dickov feels the side are in a brilliant place at the moment having recorded their second successive 5-1 victory to stretch to an unbeaten run of seven games.
The young Bees beat Crewe Alexandra last week before heading north of the border to beat a Hearts XI by the same score line. Max feels going forwards the side are looking a fantastic threat.
He explained: “Trev (Ryan Trevitt) is on fire at the minute. Him, Yehor (Yarmoliuk) and Gilbz (Alex Gilbert) were amazing and going forward at the minute we look a real threat. Pushing on to the Aston Villa game I think we’re in really good form at the minute. There is still a lot to come from us but at the minute we’re looking really good.
“The work that we’re putting in during training, the set-up, the pressing, it showed on the pitch today. From minute one we were at them and that’s where a lot of our goals came from, winning it in high areas and punishing them.”
Despite scoring five again, Max is keen to note that the side must continue their high standards and concentration to maintain full focus throughout the 90 minutes having conceded late to Hearts following a defensive lapse.
He continued: “It’s frustrating, we were 5-0 up going into the last 10 minutes. It was perhaps a lack of concentration because they’re the goals that you shouldn’t really give away. It’s disappointing not to get a clean sheet but next game we will work on it and make sure that those things don’t happen.”
The full back, who joined the Bees in the summer, had a period on the side lines and has now returned to full fitness. He scored as a substitute against Crewe and started against Hearts whilst also grabbing an assist for Ryan Trevitt. The 20-year-old wants to continue to build minutes and momentum.
He said: “On a personal note, to get a start after a period out (is good.) Getting minutes in two wins where we’ve scored 10 goals is always good. I saw Gilbz and I got on the overlap and Trevitt was there. If I put into that area, then I know he will score.
“In two games I’ve got an assist and a goal and when there are opportunities you have to take them. I think I have in these past two games and I’m loving it, the whole group is fantastic at the moment and it’s a great environment to be in.”
