Brentford’s Development Squad central defender Alfie Mawson has completed a loan move to Maidenhead United.

The 18-year-old signed a two-year professional contract in the summer to be part of the Club’s Under-21 set-up.

He has played five games for The Bees this year in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South and also went away with the First Team on the pre-season tour to Germany.

Alfie has joined the Blue Square Bet South side and will remain with the Berkshire club until January 9, meaning he will be available for six games.

Alfie is one of five Brentford players now out gaining experience at non-league level.

Luke Norris has joined Boreham Wood on loan while three of Brentford’s scholars are out on work experience.

Tyrell Miller-Rodney and Sam Beale are with Northwood, of the Evo-Stick Southern League Central Division, while Josh Clarke has joined Carshalton Athletic, of the Ryman Premier League.

The three are in the second year of two-year scholarships but qualify for the Club’s Under-21 side due to their age.

Tyrell, 18, started for Northwood in their 1-0 defeat to Uxbridge on Saturday, while Sam, 19, came on as a second half substitute.

Josh, 18, scored for Carshalton in a 3-1 defeat against Hendon on Saturday and then played another 90 minutes in a 3-1 loss to Margate on Tuesday night.

Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Director of Youth, said: “With no Under-21 games around Christmas, it was important to get these lads out playing games.

“We are pleased we were able to find them good clubs where they can continue their development.

“The next step for our young players is to play men’s games and learn to deal with that side of football.

“We will be watching them closely over the time they are away and they can still train with us.

“All four have had an impact at Under-21 level this season so we will now see how they have improved when they come back.”
