Two strikes from Nathan Young-Coombes and a header from Lachlan Brook did the damage for the side in a match they dominated for large spells.

There was an enthusiasm about Brentford B’s performance from the off, dictated excellently once again by Paris Maghoma in midfield whilst the front line of Young-Coombes, Brook and Max Haygarth chased their opponents down with eagerness to win back possession.

It took Neil MacFarlane’s side just six minutes to go ahead when Brook and Jan Žambůrek combined expertly on the edge of the box before the ball found its way to Young-Coombes who struck sweetly into the right-hand corner to make it 1-0.

A Maghoma free-kick then caused danger in the QPR box on 16 minutes before the opponents had their first attempt when Matt Cox denied Sinclair Armstrong at his near post.

The young Bees almost made it 2-0 on 22 minutes when some fantastic interplay saw the side break. Lewis Gordon combined with Brook before Val Adedokun set Gordon away down the left and his cross found Haygarth before it was squared for Žambůrek who shot just over.

A header from Martell Taylor-Crossdale came on 24 minutes before Fin Stevens had an attempt just after the half hour mark when he cut in from the right and shot just over with his left foot.

The second goal then came for The Bees as Stevens crossed from the right and Brook appeared unmarked to pop up with a header low into the goal giving the side a two-goal advantage going into the break.

QPR started the second half brighter as they tried to gain a foothold in the game as Taylor-Crossdale hit an effort off the bar before Matt Cox was quickly up to deny the rebound. The same player would also shoot just wide shortly after.

But The Bees managed to wrestle back control and they had the perfect chance to further their advantage when the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Wonderful trickery on the edge of the box saw Žambůrek and Brook combine before the latter was tripped in the box.

Young-Coombes then stepped up to fire home from the spot to make it 3-0 in front of a healthy number of Brentford fans.

The goals weren’t done there, though, as Taylor-Crossdale got himself on the scoresheet as he went down the right before converting with a low effort as the match ended 3-1.
