Finland youth international striker Marcus Forss has committed his long-term future to Brentford by signing a new contract. The teenage attacker signed his new deal today, Monday 12 February, after making a big impact in his first eight months at the Club. The Brentford B forward is now under contract at Brentford until the summer of 2021.

Marcus joined Brentford in June after leaving West Bromwich Albion. The 18-year-old completed his scholarship at West Brom in May but started his professional career in West London as part of the Brentford B squad. Marcus featured regularly for Albion in the Under-18 Premier League and scored six goals for The Baggies in that competition. He also played for the Premier League team’s reserve side and in the Checkatrade Trophy.

The Finnish striker has been a regular goal scored for Brentford B this season. Marcus has scored 11 goals in 23 appearances with match-winning contributions across the season. He hit four as Brentford B picked up a comprehensive win against Benfica B and also grabbed two in a win at Barnet at the end of 2017.

Marcus has been a regular for Finland at youth international level. He is currently part of the Under-19 squad and will be hoping to be part of the Finland squad when his country hosts the UEFA European Under-19 Championships next summer. He has also played at Under-18 level for his country. In total, Marcus has played 13 games for his country and scored six goals.

Kevin O’Connor, Brentford B Head Coach, said: 'I'm happy to see Marcus extend his contract with the Club. He's got off to a good start with us and his goal tally shows how important he's been during the games this season. He's a great option up front because of his strength and ability to hold the ball.

“His experience in international youth football for Finland is also something he brings to the table. I'm confident that he can keep improving his game and will hopefully push himself to work with the First Team as much as possible in the coming year.”
