There has been a further addition to the Brentford B ranks as Danish youth international Mads Bech Sørensen has joined from AC Horsens for an undisclosed fee. The 18-year-old completed a medical yesterday, Monday 31 July, and has signed a four-year contract. Mads will train with Brentford B this week ahead of upcoming fixtures against Under-23 teams from Southampton and Everton.

The teenage defender came through the ranks at Horsens. He made his debut for them in the second tier of Danish football when he was just 16. Mads was in the squad as Horsens won promotion in 2015/16 and then played ten games the following season as they maintained their Danish Superliga status. The 2017/18 Danish season is already underway and Mads has played all three games for Horsens so far.

The 18-year-old heads to England having played 25 games for Horsens in all competitions. He has also scored one goal. Mads – who can play centre back or left back – made his Denmark Under-18 debut last year. He played seven games at that level and has also made two Under-19 international appearances. He has scored one international goal.

Robert Rowan, Brentford FC Head of Football Operations, said “Mads is someone we’ve tracked for more than six months so I’m really pleased that we’ve managed to get it over the line and have him here for the next four years. Mads is a versatile player having already featured at centre back, left back and left midfield for Horsens which is quite rare for someone so young.

“It’s important for defenders within our style of play to be good on the ball, have physical qualities for one-on-one duels and read the game well. I am confident that Mads has quality and potential in all three areas and will continue to develop under the guidance of the technical staff.”
