Two more members of the Brentford B squad have been promoted to the First Team group. Marcus Forss and Mads Bech Sørensen will now officially be part of the First Team squad at Griffin Park after signing for Brentford B last summer. Both made their debuts for The Bees this season in the Carabao Cup win over Southend United after spending pre-season with the First Team and Marcus has gone on to make his Sky Bet Championship debut.

Marcus, 19, is a Finland youth international striker, currently away with his national Under-21 squad and set to make his debut at that level in the coming days. He joined Brentford last summer after leaving West Bromwich Albion and committed his long-term future to The Bees by signing a new contract until the summer of 2021 earlier this year. In his first season in West London he scored 21 goals in 34 appearances for Brentford B.

Marcus spent pre-season with the First Team and scored in friendlies against Wycombe Wanderers and Shrewsbury Town. He followed that up with a goal in the win over Southend, on his Brentford debut, and also played against Blackburn Rovers in the league last week. He has been a regular for Finland at youth international level and received his first Under-21 call-up a few days ago. He was part of the Under-19 squad last season and has also played at Under-18 level for his country. In total, Marcus has played 16 games for Finland and scored nine goals.

Mads, 19, joined from Brentford from AC Horsens last summer and signed until the summer of 2021. The teenage defender, primarily a centre half, came through the ranks at Horsens. He made his debut for them in the second tier of Danish football when he was just 16 and played for them in the top flight before moving to West London.

Mads was a regular in the heart of the Brentford B defence last season and was also named as a substitute for The Bees in five Championship fixtures, without getting on. He made his Brentford debut against Southend last month and will be part of the First Team squad for the upcoming season. Mads captained Denmark Under-19 last season and has also represented his country at Under-18 level. He has played 20 games for his country in total, scoring once.

Dean Smith, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “I would like to congratulate Marcus and Mads on their promotion to the First Team group. Both players impressed the staff during the pre-season period and in the first month of the season, which is always a hectic one. They have earned the step up.

“Mads was unfortunate to get injured at Southend so he was unable to complete his first full game but he has improved while training with the First Team this season. Marcus has shown on the pitch that he is able to cope with the move to playing competitive games. This move will help his development even further.”

Kevin O’Connor, B Team Head Coach, said: “This is a great reward for the work Mads and Marcus have put in since they joined us just over a year ago. They were given a chance in pre-season and they have taken it. This sort of move has to be earned by consistent good performances and effort and I congratulate them for getting the chance to take this step. But they both know the hard work starts now.

“The B Team staff enjoyed having Mads and Marcus as part of the group last season and they put in a series of good performances for us. There are always chances for players to make the step from B Team to First Team, the pathway is one of the main reasons that Brentford B exists. This move will encourage all the B Team players that there is an opportunity for them if they are good enough and they work hard enough.”
